The Palace of Fontainebleau
Fontainebleau is located about 60 km southeast of Paris. The area of the castle is located near the city center. The building dates back to the early twelfth century and the end of the nineteenth century. It was one of the residences of the French kings from François 1er.
This place is composed of elements of different styles: medieval, Renaissance and classical. The exterior and interior combine French and Italian art tradition. The castle is surrounded by large gardens and several ponds. There the Court of Honor with his driveway which is made of stone pavers and is surrounded a beautiful lawn; but also the English garden, consisting of a multitude of trees of all kinds and is crossed by a charming canal.
The interior is equally remarkable. Many pieces consist of elements of time well-preserved decoration. You will find among other François 1er Gallery with his exceptional paintings or apartments of the Emperor Napoleon and the royal apartment. But it would take too long to describe everything. There are indeed many other unique places like the theater, chapels, etc..
Bus, line 1, get off at the "castle". Free parking is located on the western outskirts of the city.
