Chantilly Estate

A few kilometers north of Paris is a remarkable castle, that of Chantilly.

After being left, the monument became known as "Conde Museum." Indeed, it is known today to be the first museum after the Louvre , to house old paintings. More than a dozen rooms are dedicated to exhibitions.

The place is in two parts: the former, called "Little Castle" dates from the sixteenth century; the other part is the nineteenth century and was built for a son of King Louis-Philippe 1. It is in the latter that the museum be found. The whole is surrounded by a moat still water.

In the old castle you will visit the Great princely apartments, decorated with white and gold and precious wood furniture, and the Small Apartments Duke and Duchess.

There is also a field on the Schedule castle. Formerly useful to accommodate guests princes, it is the Château d'Enghien. It is back to the forest area. There are also other buildings such as the Jeu de Paume, the House of Sylvie and Great Stables. It is 186 m long, which makes it an exceptional place.

Then you can enjoy the park 155 hectares of which 25 are water bodies. There are gardens of different themes. The forest covers more than 6000 ha.

Cultural events are regularly organized, such as "lights Chantilly" in June as well as "Jardins en scene" or horse shows.

To get to Chantilly drive from Paris take the A1 and the output Chantilly.

By train from the Gare du Nord in Paris (about 24 min) take the direction and get off at Chantilly Chantilly-Gouvieux. Same from Châtelet-Les-Halles by the RER D (45 min). From the station to the castle you can use a taxi or the UCR is a free city bus (stop Notre-Dame church).
