The Dune of Pilat

This exceptional place is a few kilometers south of the Bassin d`Arcachon , or 1 hour drive south-west of Bordeaux. It lies at the entrance to Arcachon Bay in the town of La Teste-de-Buch.

This is a sand dune near 4000 years old and knew its size and the view it provides. It measures 2.7 km in fact long, 500 m wide and with a height of 110 m. What is beautiful to view from the top is the contrast with the blue of the ocean on one side and returning you the green of the Landes forest.

It is possible to stay and eat in Arcachon, near the dune.

To get to this natural place for Bordeaux by car: Take the A63 and exit the A660 towards Arcachon. Then follow La Teste-de-Buch and the Dune du Pilat is signposted.
