Pont Saint-Bénézet
Pont d'Avignon is considered the hallmark not only the city of Avignon , but the whole of France. Thrown across the water of the Rhone, it almost breaks in the middle of the river. After the construction of Saint-Edsel in 1985, he was on the shores of two branches of the river. The bridge was then 900 meters and its construction had 22 arched opening.
This unique bridge survived until our days, having gone through several major renovations. However, due to the severe floods that befell the city in 1668, from d'Avignon were only 4-of-flight and a small chapel of St. Nicholas.
Get to Avignon from Paris by high speed train can TGV. Entrance to the bridge carried by Boulevard du Rhône.
