Fontaine de la Rotonde
La Fontaine de la Rotonde marked the entrance of the Aix-en-Provence in the past. But the city has changed since it is now in the center, surrounded by a circular plaza linking four main avenues of the city.
This is one of the most famous monuments of Aix. It consists of two circular basins: The first floor, has a diameter of 32 meters; above, the second is 15 meters. At these you will see statues of lions, cheetahs heads, dolphins, works of Truphème and children riding swans. The set measures 12 meters high and the top is adorned with 3 beautiful marble statues, once called the "Three Graces." Each looks at a very specific direction for one symbolizes justice, other trade and agriculture and the latest arts.
To get here there are several bus stops around the Place de la Rotonde, served by lines 1 and 18 of the bus network in the city.
