Fort Saint-Jean
Fort St. John is located in the northwest part of the Old Port of Marseille at the end of Quai du Port near the city hall. It is a place whose foundations date back to the twelfth century and the majority of buildings in the seventeenth century. The remains of the sixth century Av J.-C were discovered, which shows that the site was occupied by the Greek.
Today is a promenade where you will feel like a village. This small citadel has its church, its houses, its fountain, its walls ... You can enjoy a great view of the Old Port and the Palais du Pharo from the square tower, the Tower of King René.
A small part of the fort is dedicated to permanent and temporary exhibitions in conjunction with the Museum of Civilization in Europe and the Mediterranean. It is accessible by using a gateway.
You can also visit a Mediterranean garden called "the garden of migration" on the esplanade.
Access to the fort is free except for showrooms.
To get here you can use the metro and go to the "Vieux-Port Hotel de Ville" station. Then reassemble the Quai du Port.
