Chambord Castle

Chambord Castle

The largest castle in the Loire region is located in the department of Loir-et-Cher 15 km east of Blois and 2 hours south of Paris. Its construction began in the early sixteenth century. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This castle is located in the heart of the largest forest in Europe ended. This forest has 50 square kilometers and is surrounded by 32 km of walls around the whole. This was a huge hunting ground for the counts of Blois. Today there is the red deer stags, wild boar and the Mediterranean as well as ospreys and kingfishers sheep.

The dimensions of the castle are equally impressive: it has a long frontage of 128 m consisting of 4 towers, with 440 rooms, 365 fireplaces. During your visit you will discover inside many rich works of art collections of paintings, tapestries, furniture and other art objects.

It is possible to stay on the field but it is better to come in large numbers to reduce rental costs. Otherwise the town of Blois is close enough and easy access castle. If a shuttle will transport you to Blois to all the castles around the spring and summer period.
