Font-de-Gaume cave

This cave carved into a limestone massif, is the first decorated with polychrome paintings have been discovered in the Périgord, in 1901. It is located about 1 hour south-west of Brive-la-Gaillarde and 1 hour east of Bergerac, in the village of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil Dordogne. The tour provides a subterranean place of 125m long and 2 to 3m wide where you will find loan of 200 beautiful paintings, including horses, bison, mammoths and deer, dating from the time of the Magdalenian, there are about 15000 years. 

Line SNCF train passes through Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil from Périgueux and Bergerac. The easiest way is to get there by car, free parking is available in front of the ticket.
