Chateau de Ermenonvil
The castle was built in 987 on the site of the monastery priest named Irminon. At the end of the XVI century, the French King Henry IV frequented Ermenonville to stay. In 1763, the Marquis Rene Louis de Girardin created around the first French landscape park that looked like a corner untouched wilderness.
In 1778, at the Chateau de Ermenonville Jean-Jacques Rousseau spent the last weeks of his life. His ashes were buried in the park, on the island in the middle of an artificial lake.
