Scandola Nature Reserve
This natural reserve is located on a point west of the island of Corsica, 80 km southwest of Bastia and 50 km northwest of Ajaccio. It is a terrestrial and marine protected environment and World Heritage of UNESCO. The territory of nearly 2,000 ha 7 common concerns.
The main access is by sea from Calvi, Ajaccio and Porto. The first things you will discover are huge red granite rocks planted in a turquoise water. You can also see osprey nests or golden eagles perched in the hollow. Other bird species are also present. Flora in turn includes several endemic species and some are rare.
To get closer to the coast, it is advisable to take a small boat. It is equipped with underwater windows you can marvel watching the exceptional aquatic life reserve.
A footpath is loanable to join Girolata village. To this we must go through the Col de la Croix. A walk that takes a little less than 4 hours round trip.
