Pont du Gard
The Pont du Gard is located 5 minutes south of the village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard in the south-east of France between Nimes and Orange, 30 minutes from each of these cities. It is an aqueduct, therefore planned to carry water and built by the Romans in the 1st century.
Crossing the bridge you can realize its impressive dimensions. Indeed, mounted on three levels of arches, its height amounted to 48m and longer level, the third, reaches 360m. Such an architecture is worth visiting, especially as it is a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
In 2000 the site was redeveloped and a museum was born about 100m from the bridge. Throughout the year various events are held there, such as plays, concerts and other festivals. Restaurants are available.
Getting here by bus there is the A15 line from Avignon and Ales line B21 from Nîmes.
